Danish fashion brand Wood Wood has collaborated with Onitsuka Tiger on a new design for its X Caliber silhouette from the ’80s. The collaboration follows Wood Wood’s previous partnerships with Adidas and Converse.

The shoe will be launched during the Gallery trade fair in Copenhagen this August.

Frey Wilkinson, who manages the Wood Wood flagship store in Copenhagen, chose the retro low-cut sneaker that is made of mesh, nylon and classic suede to base his creation on in subtle, toned down colors.

The theme of doubles often comes back in Wood Wood’s designs (think “W” and “W”), but this time the brand used two As on the footbed to make up something that looks distinctly like the two Ws. (Footbeds are becoming a visual playground for those who want to get extra creative while reworking sneaker designs without compromising the external appeal.) Meanwhile, the heel sports an embroidered clover, representing the three Wood Wood founders.

Wood Wood is producing a limited run of 200 pairs. The first 96 pairs will be available at their launch at Wood Wood stores in Copenhagen and Berlin. Then at the end of August the X-Caliber will go into selective distribution at specialty stores in Europe, including Colette (Paris), 290m2 (Amsterdam), Azita (Frankfurt) and Hanon (Aberdeen).

The shoes will retail for about €100.
