Wolverine World Wide (www.wolverineworldwide.com) is transferring in the coming weeks the distribution of Patagonia Footwear (www.patagonia.com) in its European subsidiary territories to Patagonia, Inc. The move will leverage the strength of Patagonia Inc. in Europe to further expand the footwear line.

While Patagonia Europe will be responsible for the S/S 2011 sell-in season, Wolverine will continue to manage orders and support the business in Europe throughout 2010.

“We are dedicated to aligning ourselves with Patagonia in every way possible to ensure a continued robust business for Patagonia Footwear,” said Jean-Pierre Petit, Managing Director of Patagonia Footwear in Europe. “Since the introduction of Patagonia Footwear, we have experienced great success and continued momentum.  This transition further aligns footwear and apparel and focuses our commitment on the continued growth of Patagonia Footwear in Europe.”

We will be working closely with our friends at Wolverine to ensure a seamless transition as we open this new chapter of footwear distribution.”

With sales last year of $333m, Patagonia is noted internationally for its commitment to product quality and environmental activism. To date, its Environmental Grants Program has contributed over $37m to grassroots environmental activists since the program began in 1985. Incorporating environmental responsibility into product development, the company has, since 1996, used only organically grown cotton in its clothing line and as of fall 2010 77% of its products are recyclable.  Known for its unique corporate culture, the company was named “The Coolest Company on the Planet” by Fortune magazine in 2007.
