VF Corporation has opened a new central distribution center in Kunshan (China), which will support the global supply chain platform of the company. The facility takes up 85,000 square meters and is expected to handle 30 million product units each year. It will employ around 400 people. Kunshan’s distribution center has been certified with the Leed Bronze Certification thanks to its low carbon footprint.

Eric Wiseman, Chairman, President and CEO of VF Corporation, in regards to the new construction: “With the expectation that our business in China will nearly double during the next four years, this represents a significant milestone in our ability to manage long-term costs and inventories.”

Prior to the facility in Kunshan, VF has already opened four new distribution centers during the past year in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium), Mexico City (Mexico), Los Angeles (California, US) and Hackleburg (Alabama, US), a center which was previously destroyed as a result of a tornado in April 2011.

VF’s new facility is part of an expansion plan in China, where the company expects to increase its total revenues from more than $500 million in 2013, to nearly $1 billion in 2017. The VF brands commercialized in China include: The North Face, Lee, Vans, Timberland, Kipling, 7 For All Mankind, Wrangler and Nautica.
