It's the shutdown of the trade show season. Only a couple of organizers still try to stick to their initial dates. Among them is Berlin's Premium Group. But that might change.
Its main events, Premium and Seek, are both scheduled for 30 June to 01 July. But seeing all shows and fashion weeks around the globe being cancelled or at least postponed, Premium Group's managing partner Anita Tillmann is aware of the fact that Berlin might also be affected. Even though she recently stated that no decision will be announced before the end of April, a press release with further considerations about alternative dates has just been sent around.
"We are initially discussing potential dates of 28-30 July 2020 for Berlin. An alternative and realistic date that is feasible for all segments and agreed with all other protagonists. As soon as we can confirm a date we will introduce a concept with new thematic focal points adapted to the current situation," Tillmann says.
Currently, her company is monitoring the situation and in exchange with the other organizers in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Munich, "checking whether it would make sense for the majority of the stakeholders involved to move the dates forward and, if so, to when".
At the same time, Premium is figuring out the potential of extending digital order business to establish a parallel platform: "We are working closely together with the worldwide leading B2B marketplace and our strategic partner, JOOR, to determine how digital ordering can be made simpler, which options exist and how these can best be implemented".
The final decision regarding the timing of physical events still has to wait though: "As event organisers, just like every other individual at home right now, we too have to wait and see how the official requirements will develop. We have therefore decided not to make a decision regarding dates until the end of April."
