Here is a round up of the latest going on in the trade show and fashion week world...
Performance Days introduces “Digital Fair”
While the physical edition of Performance Days to be held in Munich 22-23 April had to be cancelled due to the pandemic outbreak, the organizers have now developed a virtual solution: a digital trade show format called ‘Digital Fair’ has been installed to present novelties around functional fabrics for the summer 2022 season on the website www.performancedays.com/digital-fair.html.
Apart from fabrics news presented by exhibitors users can also experience expert talks and webinars around topics such as color trends or fiber and fabrics innovations.
The next ’real’ edition of Performance Days is scheduled 28-29 October in Munich.
Düsseldorf shows & showrooms with new order dates
Trade show organizer Igedo has decided to postpone the Gallery Fashion show and showroom concepts and have them take place together with the Gallery Shoes edition on a joint date from 30 August-3 September 2020, around the original date of Gallery Shoes. The Gallery Showroom concept is leading this date with a partial occupancy of the Böhler area and firmly agreed and thus clearly defined customer appointments, starting on 30 August 2020. "We are also in close contact with 'Supreme Women & Men Düsseldorf' in order to maintain the strength of the Düsseldorf location for the retail trade", says Gallery project director Ulrike Kähler.
Supreme so far has only announced on its website that the initial event date on 24-27 July cannot be kept due to federal legislation laws that prohibit large events until 31 August to keep the pandemic under control; therefore a new date needs to be found.
Meanwhile Fashion Net, an initiative created by several fashion brands, showrooms and companies in Düsseldorf, has announced a new date for the upcoming Düsseldorf order days ('CPD'): 5-12 August.
“The trade fairs in Berlin are currently completely cancelled, which is why the order business is increasingly concentrated on the fashion location Düsseldorf. For decades it has been possible to synchronize trade fair times and showroom orders - but this will not be the case for the first time with the upcoming CPD issue,” Fashion Net states.
New York summer trade shows postponed
Due to ongoing uncertainty regarding the health situation the organizers of New York menswear trade shows decided to postpone their July events:
Project NY by Informa Markets will move from July 19-21 to September 22-24, 2020 and will be co-located with the Coterie Marketplace.
Also Liberty New York has been postponed from 20-22 July to September, the exact date and location will still be announced as it says on Liberty’s website.
The August editions of Informa Market's several NYC womenswear shows (including Fame, Moda, Intermezzo, Accessories the Show and Accessorie Circuit) have been cancelled and moved to the September date as well.
Gender neutral London Fashion Week to launch with digital platform
British Fashion Council (BFC) today announces that for the next twelve months all London Fashion Weeks will merge womenswear and menswear into one gender neutral platform.
For this June, London Fashion Week, will take a new form, as a digital-only platform in light of the current environment, and will run from 12-14 June 2020 through the time period of former London Fashion Week Men’s.
On top, the digital platform www.londonfashionweek.co.uk will relaunch to host multimedia content from designers, creatives, artists and (digital) brand partners, including Amazon Launchpad, Facebook, Google, Instagram, JOOR, ORDRE/ORB360 and YouTube, enabling collaboration and bringing together fashion, culture and technology.
The digital version will be open to a global public and trade audience, and will work as a meet-up point, offering interviews, podcasts, designer diaries, webinars and digital showrooms, giving the opportunity to designers to generate sales for both the public through existing collections and the retailers through orders for next season’s products.
