Among exhibitors, some newcomers and returns will be A/X Armani Exchange, Hen’s Teeth, Tramarossa 2020, P448 and Sundek Golden Wave from Italy, Peppino Peppino Denim from the Netherlands, Jeanerica from Sweden and Ksenia Schnaider from Ukraine. Other key brands at the show will be Frame, J Brand, Jeckerson and Moonboot.
The main theme of the event will be “The Pitti Special Click,” which celebrates how everything today can be easily accessed by a simple click of mouse–whether images, words and ideas. “Pitti’s Special Click is more than all of this,” said Agostino Poletto, general manager, Pitti Immagine. “It is a spark that always produces new alchemies, an energetic and emotional click that is hard to be stopped and together with our X Factor gives life to another successful appointment that recalls a vast amount of insiders willing to see, know and trying to understand what’s new.”
Among the many initiatives of this edition, there will be Romanzo Breve di Moda Maschile –A Short Novel of Men’s Fashion, a special exhibition meant to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary. It will take place at Palazzo Pitti Museo della Moda e del Costume from June 12 to September 29, 2019 and will be inaugurated on June 11. Under the direction of Olivier Saillard, a historian of fashion, this exhibition will recount the history and evolution of menswear, the intersection of Made in Italy presenting guest designers, fashion talents from the international contemporary scene together and the experiences of leading menswear entrepreneurs. The project is dedicated to the memory of Marco Rivetti, president of Pitti Immagine from 1987 to 1995.
In addition to special events dedicated to Givenchy, guest designer of this edition, Sterling Ruby, Pitti special guest, MSGM, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, Marco De Vincenzo and Salvatore Ferragamo, the show will also host other projects, including an homage to Karl Lagerfeld. At an installation held inside the Fortezza’s Sala Dell’Arco, and presenting the brand’s vast selection of products, UK artist Endless will paint a portrait of the designer live.
The Florentine concept store Société Anonyme and the brand Closed will present a streetwear-inspired denim collection they created together. This special collaboration will debut during a party held on Tuesday, June 11, at the Société Anonyme store.
Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) together with Detox–CID and Greenpeace Italia will present five eco-friendly collections during Pitti Immagine Uomo 96. Following the launch of The Time is Now! in January 2019, the project has reached the final phase. The collections will be presented on Tuesday, June11 in the Courtyard areas of the Palazzina Reale in Florence. The work has been brought forward by a group of 15 creatives selected from IED students of the Fashion Design and Fashion Stylist Courses at the schools in Milan, Rome, Florence, Turin and Como. The collections were made using fabrics supplied by the companies involved in Detox and selected in accordance with Greenpeace’s Detox principles.
New for this edition is the Guest Nation China project that hosts some of the most promising names on the new creative Chinese scene. Ten designers will be the protagonists selected to present their collections with a showcase at the Fortezza da Basso–in the location of the Grotte, accompanied by a series of events and special projects.
The iconic boutique Luisa Via Roma will celebrate its 90th anniversary by hosting the first official fashion show of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Runway collection. The show will present a ’90s inspired fashion show and a performance by Lenny Kravitz.
