Bangladesh Denim Expo is getting ready for the kick-off of its 10th edition. The trade show will take place May 2-3, 2019 at the International Convention City Bashundhara, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The show offers fashion buyers and international denim insiders a sourcing platform and a hub for meeting colleagues, making new contacts and starting agreements.
For this edition it will host various informative events including roundtables, seminars and talks for discussing and in-depth analysis on the hot topic of “Circularity.”
The vast program of talks will start on May 2, in the afternoon, with talks involving Officina+39's Andrea Venier and Rebecca Li from The Lycra Company, just to name some.
At 6:00 pm the panel discussion “Circularity: What it means for the Bangladesh RMG Industry, their customers and end consumer” will take place. Participating will be, in addition to Sabine Kühnl (SPORTSWEAR INTERNATIONAL’s editor-in-chief), Sharif Zahir (Ananta Group), Anwar Ul Alam Chowdhury (BCI/Evince Group), Jacob Kahl Jepsen (Embassy of Denmark in Bangladesh), Ziaur Rahman (H&M), Tanveer Ahmed (Elegant Group) and Arshad Jamal (Tusuka).
On May 3 Jeanologia’s Jordi Juani, Bossa’s Sesim Ozek and Tonello’s Alice Tonello will make speeches in the afternoon to be followed at 6:00 pm by the panel discussion “Innovation aids circularity: What advances should the Bangladesh RMG industry embrace to develop a circular economy?” Among participants there will be Sabine Kühnl (SPORTSWEAR INTERNATIONAL), Miran Ali (Bitope Group), Khalilur Rahman (Carrefour Group), Syed M Tanvir (Pacific Jeans), Syed Nurul Islam (Well Group) and Jeroen Steeghs (Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh).

Exhibitors, in addition to Bangladeshi businesses, will include firms from Italy, Turkey, Japan, Pakistan and India, among others. Out of the more than 60 exhibitors, there will be Artistic Milliners, Bossa, Denim Expert Ltd, Garmon Kemin Group, Jeanologia, Kilim Group, Naveena Denim, Officina+39, Orta, Pacific Jeans, Raymond Uco Denim, Soorty Textiles, The Lycra Company, Tonello, US Denim Mills and Vicunha Textil.
On the opening day of the expo, May 2, the second edition of Bangladesh Fashionology Summit will also take place. This convention will happen in the same location of Bangladesh Denim Expo, at the International Convention City Bashundhara, more precisely in Hall 1, Gulnaksha Hall. The aim of the initiative is to inspire the Bangladeshi apparel industry facing the global market’s future challenges.
This edition’s theme will be “Digitalization – The next destination” and will present views and remarks of global experts about how the apparel industry in Bangladesh can evolve thanks to technology. About 25 expert insiders from 13 countries from all over the world will express their opinion within five different sessions of the single-day event. Speakers will include representatives for international embassies and political authorities, and managers from C&A Foundation, H&M, Lectra, Marks & Spencer, Pacific Jeans and Pioneer Denim, among others.
