It was predictable. After long considerations, the organizers of Performance Days, the trade fair for functional materials, have now also cancelled the fair for April (22-23) in Munich. In an official statement it says: „The Performance Days trade fair for functional fabrics and materials, will not be holding the event in Munich in April this year, nor will there be a postponement to a later date in the first half of the year, with the protection of visitors and exhibitors being the priority.”

Given the current global situation, travel bans and restrictive measures to prevent the Covid-19 virus pandemic, it was the right decision, according to the trade show organizers. General manager Marco Weichert: “The safety and health of our visitors and exhibitors is given our top priority. Even though the current event ban in Bavaria only applies until April 19, we would like to help in curtailing the spread of the corona virus beyond that date. In view of the current uncertain situation, in which new short-term decisions have to be taken to protect the health of everyone, we believe it makes sense not to postpone the event to a later date either, but to send a clear signal that we are acting far-sightedly and responsibly by cancelling the trade fair for the summer 2022 kick-off.”

In order to keep the industry up to date with the latest fabric trends and product innovations of the exhibitors, Performance Days is "working at full speed on digital solutions". The plan is to present the trends in digital form in the coming weeks. As soon as the latest trends for summer 2022 are ready for virtual presentation, all visitors, exhibitors and partners will be informed digitally via the website.

In the current global situation, it seems unavoidable that trade fair organizers must increasingly consider what digital solutions are available. The organizers of Kingpins have also opted for digital solutions. You can read more about it here.

The next Performance Days are scheduled to take place in Munich from 28 to 29 October 2020. It remains to be seen whether this can be said with certainty given the current global situation.
