The upcoming specialized denim trade show Kingpins, set for November 19-20 at Pier 36 (200 South Street) in New York, will focus on the future of the denim industry. In April 2019, the show announced standards and requirements in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Chemical Management for exhibitors of its Kingpins Amsterdam show – but the focus on sustainability and innovation has been applied to all Kingpins shows, globally.


This season, show organizers are focusing all Kingpins New York panels on important social and environmental issues.

Panels:
The United Nations Office for Partnerships and Conscious Fashion Campaign will host “Denim Industry Impact: Conscious Strategies for the Sustainable Development Goals”. Moderated by Lucie Brigham, Chief of Office, United Nations Office for Partnerships, the panel will feature Kerry Bannigan, Founder, Conscious Fashion Campaign; Sara Kozlowski, Director of Education and Professional Development, Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA); and Michele Sizemore, SVP Global Product Development, GAP.

Delivering Good – a nonprofit that receives new product donations from hundreds of companies in the fashion, home and children’s industries and donates them to millions of kids, adults, and families facing poverty and disaster each year – will host “Philanthropy As Pathway to Sustainability,” a panel discussion exploring ways in which brands can use their new, excess product to benefit others and the planet. Hosted by Delivering Good’s Director of Product Procurement, Merrie Keller, the panel will include Kerry Bannigan of Conscious Fashion Campaign.

Kingpins Trend s/s 2021 garment installation:
A curated selection of garments designed by Kingpins exhibitors, inspired by the Kingpins Trend forecast developed by Amy Leverton and Sam Trotman of Denim Dudes. Designers can visit the installation for design, fabric and styling inspiration. A novelty is that Kingpins has added a comprehensive fabric report. Attendees may preview it on the show floor. The forecast, including fabric report, is also available for purchase at the installation and online at Kingpinsshow.com



The Conscious Fashion Campaign x United Nations:
Stop by their space to learn more about the sustainable development goals and learn how the United Nations wishes to partner with industry to achieve their goals.

 
Kingpins Market:
A new feature of the show, the Market is a collection of retailers, artisans, vintage dealers and more. Stop by for indigo inspiration and appreciation.

 
Kingpins Film Screenings:

  • An Indigo Story by Vivian Wang

Kingpins’ managing director Vivian Wang found a beautiful indigo village in rural China that has been growing, dyeing and weaving with natural indigo for generations. It’s a story of sustainability, craftsmanship and authenticity.

Director John Turner follows David White from Ragtop Vintage and Brit Eaton, Indiana Jeans himself, as they denim hunt in the American west for smelly, beautiful, pricey denim.

  • Olga Guarch - Barcelona-based indigo artist Olga Guarch will present her indigo-inspired collection of paintings.
  •  Paul Vogel - UK-based textile designer Paul Vogel brings his loom and archive of textile designs.
  •  The Vintage Showroom - The London-based shop and showroom will display a gorgeous selection of vintage garments and sell
  • Worn / Kingpins Volume 1 - a collaboration born out of the mutual respect and friendship between The Vintage Showroom and Kingpins Show. Part denim archive, part denim forecast, 100% indigo gold.
  •   Curious Corners - Shop a collection of goods from Brooklyn-based Curious Corners, which specializes in indigo workshops and dyeing services, and produces products and events in order to tell the rich history of indigo and other textile traditions in Japan.

Kingpins New York seminar program:

Kingpins Denim Trends for S/S 2021. Fit, fabric, finish
Presented by Sam Trotman of Denim Dudes, the Kingpins Denim Trend forecast features the four trends that will define the season. Included in the forecast: research + references, mood and styling direction, key color selections, and more.
