It was one of THE topics discussed today at the London premiere of Denim PV: the new location and dates. Some had bet on Stockholm as next stop for the now nomadic Denim PV’s city tour. But they were proven wrong. Instead, the denim trade show will move to Milan and take place at Superstudio Più on June 5-6, as was announced today in an official statement by Denim PV.
“We wanted to touch down in capitals with mature fashion industries, cities that can inspire our exhibitors and our brands. Milan is all of that, especially in Zona Tortona, a post-industrial neighborhood thrumming with culture and creativity. It is a focal location of the big Italian houses, and we chose it because it has a storied past while continuing to invent new stories,” says Guglielmo Olearo, show director of Denim PV.
Though the initial feedback among the audience at Denim PV in London today was positive regarding Milan as a new location, some had doubts about the date: on one hand because they fear it might overlap with Kingpins New York, on the other hand because it would run at the same time with the Ramadan celebrations, an important religious date in the Muslim calendar. “We would prefer the show to happen a week earlier,” the representative of a Turkish mill says.
So with the upcoming Milan edition leaving room for discussion, the next December edition of Denim PV is a safe bet: it will again take place at London’s Old Truman Brewery on December 4-5.
