London premium and contemporary womenswear and accessories tradeshow Scoop (12-14 Feb.) closed the doors to its Saatchi Gallery venue – to which it returned after last season’s guest appearance at the Old Billingsgate Market in east London – on Tuesday evening. The brand-mix consisted of some 250 international designers and brands, spread over four floors and divided across several individual rooms. The art pieces adorning the walls gave each booth an intriguing gallery backdrop.
Here, a few of our favorite collections and individual pieces:
This is Taylor
Dr. Denim’s mom jean Nora, the ultra high-waisted fit adored by the young and hip, has got competition – enter Taylor. The defining feature of this slim-cut, medium rise style is its back-hem zips in oxidized metal. For fall ’17, Taylor comes in shades including solid black and blue acid wash.
Lovechild 1979’s love-in
Copenhagen based label Lovechild 1979’s booth was one of the most eclectic ones on show. We were particularly drawn to the light blue jeans with contrast hems in deeper, unwashed shades and the white tees with “love” embroidered in red. There were also hoodies with the same word blasted across the front in white on vivid red background.
Karen Radley’s fantastical creatures
As always, every member of Scoop staff were geared-out in pieces designed by show exhibitors. This season, the ensemble consisted of black Dr. Denim skinnies and Wyse cashmere jumpers adorned with fun motifs – fairytale-like horses and an exuberant queen – designed by tradeshow organizer Karen Radley herself. Considering the attention they got from show-goers, they’d do well as a commercial product.
Libertine Libertine’s time travel
Danish brand Libertine Libertine drew on Parisian 1960s vibes for its FW17 offering, mixing in 1990s Malibu style references to give the look an extra facet. The best interpretations resulted in sleek, sporty trouser-top sets and fuzzy jumpers with grown-on sleeves and funnel necks. The brand’s unisex sneakers were displayed, too – for FW17, they come in finishes such as a green and black camouflage ponyskin.
Ouigal’s slip-on update
Italian footwear label Ouigal, which is starting to break into the UK market, showed an extensive collection of autumn styles, including an updated version of the eternally practical slip-on sneaker. Ouigal’s versions feature structured ruffles fashioned from patterned velvet and silver gray suede. The zip-front ankle boot with cylindrical wooden heel also caught our eye.
