The rumours are true: Topshop will celebrate its debut on the German high streets this fall. The British fashion chain will not yet enter the offline market through monobrand stores, but will firstly open shop-in-shops in branches of the German department store Karstadt.

On September 4th, 2013, Topshop and Topman will launch at the Karstadt Premium Stores KaDeWe Berlin and Oberpollinger Munich, as well as in the Karstadt flagship stores in Düsseldorf and Hamburg. In each of these stores, both Topshop (for women) and Topman (for men) will present a selection of their collections on an area of 150sqm each.

Andrew R. Jennings, CEO Karstadt, says: “We are thrilled to be the very first to present Topshop/Topman to our Karstadt customers in Germany.” The launch is a component of the company strategy “Karstadt 2015” and of the new national campaign “Feel London”, which focuses on international lifestyle labels.

The British high street retailer stated that their partnership with Karstadt will in the long run “Provide us with further learning to ultimate bring Topshop and Topman finally to the German market, both online and offline, in its own right.” Topshop has been running a German version of their online shop for two years.

Topshop and Topman currently operate more than 500 outlets in the UK and 230 franchise stores in 30 countries.
