Tom Tailor Group has successfully held its ground in the second quarter of 2013. The company recorded an increase of 0.7% in like-for-like sales with its two umbrella brands Tom Tailor and Bonita, despite unseasonably cold temperatures. The primary growth engine was the Tom Tailor umbrella brand which achieved a sales increase of 30.5% in its retail sales channel.

On a like-for-like basis, Tom Tailor sales grew by 13.1%. Tom Tailor also registered growth in the e-commerce business, where sales climbed by 27.3%. As expected, the Bonita umbrella brand was unable to offset the declining market trend and recorded a 4.7% fall in sales in the second quarter. On a like-for-like basis, Bonita sales decreased by 5.0%.

Dieter Holzer, CEO of Tom Tailor Holding AG, comments: “With sales up 13.1%, Tom Tailor retail posted like-for-like growth for the eighteenth quarter in a row, outperforming the market by far. Tom Tailor has once again demonstrated its strong ability to achieve growth, which rests on its analytical trend management, customer proximity and flexible sourcing structures. In the future, these success factors will also take an effect on Bonita. Commencing this fall, stores will be stocking the new Bonita styles, which have been manufactured using our tried-and-tested concept. We are confident that positive momentum will start to emerge at Bonita from the fourth quarter onwards.”

In the half-yearly analysis, Tom Tailor Group recorded a 4.0% drop in like-for-like retail sales. While sales at Bonita fell by 6.2%, corresponding to a like-for-like reduction of 9.6%, Tom Tailor retail achieved a 25.7% increase in sales in the first half of the year, which corresponds to a 7.9% rise on a like-for-like basis.
