New tools and technology could help to bring fabrics shows on a higher digital level and give hope for recovery in days when many worldwide events have been cancelled or postponed.

According to estimates carried ahead by European Exhibition Industry Alliance, the missed sales due to the cancellation or postponement of trade fair events in Europe for coronavirus amounted, for the spring period only, to €39 billion.



Bsamply, an Italian digital start-up (also read here) born in 2017 as a B2B online platform meant to help fashion professionals manage their collections from sourcing to selling, has recently implemented its platform and offers the possibility to participate online in 360°-experience fairs.

The Bsamply trade show project allows suppliers with their sales network and buyers to exchange questions, answers and offers in real time via chat; show products of their own digital booths and their specifications (composition, color, etc.); choose to show some products publicly to all users or privately to their customers; sample; start negotiations; conclude orders and carry out transactions.

“The project represents an expansion of our platform that we have decided to make available to support industry fairs which are forced to postpone and cancel due to the emergency,” explains Andrea Fiume, CEO and founder of Bsamply. “The compass that guided us in developing it is its usability. We focused on immediacy and a deliberately minimal design in order to be as user-friendly as possible for entrepreneurs who can easily use it and quickly load their collections from the first time. Furthermore, it was designed to allow professionals to carry out the processes ‘in a traditional way,’ imitating as much as possible an offline meeting. Our aim is to create a bridge between small and medium enterprises and big brands, and help a sector that is currently experiencing great difficulties. I hope that many fairs in the sector choose to rely on our trade show project because it can prove to be a useful tool for our economy. More generally, the project is aimed at all companies in the textile sector who will thus be able to create a 4.0 trade show, a virtual space populated by suppliers and buyers who will thus be able to meet without any movement.”

Bsamply offers two packages to its customers: a basic one that allows them to upload 500 articles and access from a single account and a standard one that includes technical support, uploading 1,000 products and access from multiple accounts.

From July 15 to September 15, 2020, Marzotto Group, a specialized wool, cotton and linen fabric manufacturer, will participate the Bsamply trade show project as a continuation as the group has been collaboration with Bsamply since 2017. Marzotto uses Bsamply’s private showroom tool through which buyers can request samples and place orders while respecting social distancing.
The textile group has also recently launched the Tessuti di Sondrio Icatalogue augmented reality app. Employing 3D technology developed in collaboration with Sense Immaterial Reality tool, it allows users to visualize moving fabrics on a smartphone.
