UK fast-fashion retailer Topshop has officially opened its first store in the US on Broadway in SoHo, New York City. Although the store was originally scheduled to open last fall, the retailer seemed to pull out all the stops for its grand opening yesterday, with a bevy of exclusive parties all week co-hosted by Arcadia Group’s Sir Philip Green and seasoned collaborator/supermodel Kate Moss. The 25,000-sq.-foot store itself far from disappoints, with three levels of womenswear, including all its “Boutique” Brit designer collaborations (Jonathan Saunders, Preen, Richard Nicoll), a swim section, glossy shoe lounge and beauty stations, and menswear in the basement. The newest Topman Design capsule collections by young designers such as Carolyn Massey and Kasper Harup Hansen can also be found here, alongside hipster plimsolls and $50 denim. A DJ booth overlooks the ground floor, currently awash in bright spring colors and decorated with sunflowers and geraniums, Store designers even thought to add a mezzanine level dedicated to changing rooms.
