New York City’s SoHo received a trippy addition to its retail landscape on Saturday, with the opening of Tokidoki at 176 Spring Street. While the 250-sq.-foot store, modeled after the cult brand’s flagship on Corso di Porta Ticinese in Milan, offers just one floor to ceiling panel of artwork by US-based designer Simone Legno, Tokidoki’s first Stateside store will remain home to some of the brand’s coolest collaborations yet on vinyl figures, apparel, hats and purses, with companies including Strangeco, New Era and Hello Kitty. The store will also carry sterling silver trinkets and a wide range of bags. Following the launch of “bambino” kidswear this week, co-partner Ivan Arnold has confirmed Tokidoki will open its second US store in Los Angeles, though no date has been set.
