The 7th edition of Brandery Summer, Barcelona’s urban and contemporary fashion fair, has come to a close. Among the fashion, business, art and music, the core elements of this year’s edition, the event hosted 15 catwalk shows by 32 brands including Custo Barcelona, Replay and Love Therapy as well as concerts by The Human League, La Casa Azul and Mala Rodríguez.

“The Brandery’s Economic Report of Fashion in Spain 2012,” which was presented at the show last Friday, revealed that Spanish fashion companies are gaining strength in international markets, even outside the Euro zone. According to statistics, this important growth in exports (11.4% more than last year) is due partly to online sales; 2011’s fourth quarter saw 42.8% of online garment sales and 74.4% of footwear and leather sales go abroad.

The show’s director Miquel Serrano said, “These figures tell us that our decision to divide the show into two areas, one dedicated exclusively to professionals and the other open to the public, is a formula that is especially suitable for the current situation. In a digital market where purchases can be made with a single click, it is essential for firms to achieve maximum visibility in order to cultivate the loyalty of their clients and, at the same time, disclose their philosophy and values on a global level.”

The next show will run from January 25-27 at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc Exhibition Centre.
