With its third edition the Barcelona trade show The Brandery, June 28-30, continued to evolve into an important trade show for urban and contemporary fashion. Right before closing its doors, the show registered more than 15,200 visitors, up 57% from its year-ago edition and 4% more than its January show. It also hosted a total of 215 brands, showcasing a top selection of Spanish brands, while more than half of the brands came from abroad.

International visitors also were notable at the show, with 19% of them were coming from abroad, primarily from France, Italy and Portugal, including buyers and retailers from multibrand and department stores such as El Corte Inglés, La Rinascente and Galeries Lafayette.

The show “reinforces its positioning in the international market as shown in the numbers of brands, the quality of visitors and the great response to the activities organized around the show,” said Pere Camprubí, Fira de Barcelona Expansion Director and The Brandery Director.

Meanwhile, the Laundry, the dedicated forum space, offered a dozen talks. One of the most successful events was the first international bloggers meet, where speakers shared their experiences with more than 200 people.

The fair positioned itself also beyond the fashion field and hosted several cultural activities, including the MisiMisi Expo with 30 Maneki-Neko (the Chinese cat that symbolizes luck) customized for the exhibition. The art of photography was also one of the show highlights, with the Yo Dona exhibition of portraits by burlesque artist Dita von Teese. Events at The City, including the Custo Barcelona runway show and after-party at the Mellow Beach Club at the W Hotel, drew 2,500 guests.

The Brandery’s next edition, organized by Fira de Barcelona, will take place from January 26-28, 2011 and introduce the fall/winter 2011-12 collections.
