“Reflection” best collection

The 13th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion (27th to 31st January) ended with a new attendance record of more than 40,000 people from media, bloggers, buyers and general public, a rise of 40 % over the last event. About 30 designers were showing their collections in glamorous catwalk shows at El Born Centre Cultural. The atmosphere in the historic building was fantastic, every show was filled and visitors gave standing ovations for the perfect organisation. Natali Capell for example initiated a romantic opera event. Manuel Bolano surprised with an excellent mix of colours, checks and design. Krizia Robustella was showing the Spanish interpretation of winter wear for the Olympic Games in Sotschi. Each collection was an individual high light.  Mango and Desigual shows were spectacular and rounded up with a party in the trendy Born area. The Netherland top model Doutzen Kroes was the face for Desigual catwalk show.

On Friday the international jury of 080 chose “Reflection” at the best collection of the Catalan fashion event for the creativity, quality and projection of its designs. The Catalan designer Josep Abril unveiled for Fall-Winter 2014 an urbane and smart man without losing the characteristic stamp of the creator. His more classical lines he has applied to suits and overcoats, while his more experimental and risky designs have been the overalls and dungarees featuring unstructured cuts. Precisely with the traditional black, Abril heavily adopted check, superimposed on jackets and shirts, sky-blue and ice-grey, and by navy-blue applied to knitted-wool and braided jumpers. Josep Abril has been present at various editions of the Barcelona event. He created his own company in 1996 and is creating concepts and fashion projects, designing uniforms and giving classes and workshops. The designer Georgina Vendrell received a special mention for her collection “Dualisms”. The mix of materials and finishes are present in the pressed-wool, synthetic leather, neoprene and knitted fabrics, where the colours black, grey and blue are dominating.
