According to rumors, Italian Sportswear Company SpA, owner of the Stone Island brand, might soon become part of the US-American VF Corporation. Despite the fact that also Renzo Rosso’s OTB Holding had shown interest in acquiring the brand, it seems that VF Corp. might have succeeded in purchasing it.

A few months ago, owner Carlo Rivetti had instructed the company advisor Rothschild to find a partner for Sportswear Company (see our previous coverage here).
Until today, Stone Island is distributed especially in Italy and Europe, but almost not sold in the emerging markets and the US. The company has been increasing its revenues constantly and by the end of 2013, the figures have grown by 10% with Stone Island reaching a turnover of more than €70 million.

VF Corp. is a huge US apparel group owning brands such as Eastpak, Jansport, Kipling, Lee, Napapijri, 7 For All Mankind, Reef, Smartwool, Vans and Wrangler (read more here).
