Shapewear brand Spanx is squeezing into the denim business. It’s first ever collection of denim leggings will arrive in stores and its online shop in August 2014. The leggings employ Spanx technology and exclusive Real Lean Denim, which never sags, to shape and create a flattering silhouette for the wearer. Each bottom has a wide waistband, a side zipper, faux front pockets and workable back pockets. Sizes run S to XL.

The classic legging group comes in five subtle washes–indigo, black, blue lapis, brick and teal–and will retail for $98 per pair. There is also a waxed denim group in either black or pewter. It will retail for $108 per pair.

“While denim has always had a place in women’s wardrobes, it hasn’t always fit or flattered the places we want,” said Spanx founder Sara Blakely in a company statement. “We combined your dream denim with our shaping know-how and invented a solution. No more squeezing into skinny jeans…we put the skinny in the jeans!”

Founded in 2000, Atlanta-based Spanx Inc. today manufacturers more than 200 products that range from slimming apparel and swimsuits to men’s undershirts and briefs.
