The New York men’s market debuting the spring/summer 2014 collections begins today. Brands will show at a five different trade shows in Manhattan. Here, in alphabetical order, is a compendium to the shows and what one can expect to see at them. Stay tuned throughout the week for reports and images from each show.


When: Monday, July 22, 10-7 and Tuesday, July 23, 10-6

Where: Basketball City, Pier 36 at South Street (at Montgomery Street)

What: This show featuring high-end contemporary brands, independent designers and premium streetwear labels has more than 270 exhibitors this season–and that’s just in the main hall. Fourteen additional outdoor-themed brands such as Nau, Patagonia and Teva will show in the Above Tree Line section while 10 more will sell their wares in the Donut Shop cash and carry marketplace.

Who: Baldwin, Big John, Mollusk Surf Shop, Naked & Famous Denim, Nicholas K, Relwen, Sandqvist, Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen and Simon Miller are just a few of the Capsule exhibitors worth visiting.


When: Monday, July 22, 10-7 and Tuesday, July 23, 10-6

Where: 82 Mercer Street

What: Project founder Sam Ben-Avraham’s new and highly anticipated show concept will (finally) make its debut with approximately 170 handpicked exhibitors. The official first edition party will be at No.8 at 357 West 16th Street on Tuesday night from 9pm to 2am.

Who: The brand new show has attracted big names such as Adidas Originals Blue, Ben Sherman, Original Penguin, PRPS and Third & Army. They will be joined by several brands that have never showed in New York before, including KOI Kings of Indigo, Kuro Denim, Tellason and Norwegian Rain.


When: Monday, July 22 through Wednesday, July 24, 10-7

Where: Industria Superstudio, 775 Washington Street

What: MAN returns to New York with its usual tightly selected line-up. Just 37 brands will be featured this season. The show runs one day longer than all the other ones so Wednesday may be the best day to visit it.

Who: MAN’s lineup is heavily European and includes names such as Hope, YMC and Won Hundred. American brands in the mix include Apolis, The Hill Side and Jardine.


When: Sunday, July 21 & Monday, July 22, 9-6; Tuesday, July 23, 9-4

Where: Jacob Javits Convention Center, 655 West 34th Street

What: Business Journals Inc.’s MRket show returns to the Javits with 43 first-time exhibitors and 32 from the UK, many of which will show in a special UK Design section.

Who: Although the majority of exhibitors at MRket offer items that are more on the dressy/traditional side, the Vanguards Gallery section curated by Michael Macko will feature 33 brands this season, some of which are quite sporty. Labels to see here include Barque, Blue Claw Co, D. Brand and Hook + Albert.


When: Sunday, July 21 & Monday, July 22, 9-6; Tuesday, July 23, 9-5

Where: Pier 94 (55th Street at 12th Avenue)

What: Now the oldest of all the New York men’s shows, Project returns to its relatively new home at Pier 94. A new section, Project Sole NYC, will highlight the best of men’s contemporary footwear.

Who: With approximately 200 exhibitors, Project continues to attract many of sportswear’s and denim’s heavy hitters, including 7 for All Mankind, AG Adriano Goldschmied, Hudson, Silver Jeans and True Religion. We are also eager to see the debut men’s collection from New York-based Quinn.
