Stone Island and Fondazione Pitti Discovery will celebrate the Italian sportswear brand's 30th anniversary with the “Stone Island 30" exhibition at Florence's Stazione Leopolda, taking place within the June 2012 edition of Pitti Uomo. The exhibition was curated by Simon Foxton and Nicholas Griffith and will present 200 works divided among macro-areas focusing on all of the key inspiration points, practices and trends throughout the brand's evolution since 1982 up until today.
"I'm very happy that Pitti Fondazione Discovery has decided to share such an important moment with us," commented Carlo Rivetti, owner and president of the SPW Company. “I think that three decades of activity can offer quite an interesting story and I consider this collaboration with Fondazione Pitti Discovery as a mark of true recognition for our work, and for that I am truly proud."
"The Stone Island exhibition is a very beautiful project," added Gaetano Marzotto, President of Pitti Immagine and Fondazione Discovery. “We are happy to support it. This prestigious alliance with an iconic sportswear brand based on product innovation is coherent with other past initiatives of ours such as “Workwear. Fashion and Seduction" and the exhibit dedicated to the Californian designer Andrea Zittel - all projects based on an innovative mix between fashion and design, the use of materials and the study of the human body. Moreover, Carlo and Sabina Rivetti have been our friends for years and we are only too happy to reinforce that friendship and support their wonderful work."
