During GDS, an International Event for Shoes & Accessories, which will take place in Düsseldorf from September 7-9, about 850 exhibitors from 40 countries will be presenting their collections for spring/summer 2012.

Additionally, 440 exhibitors will show their collections at Global Shoes. Shoe fair GDS alone has posted a 9% increase over the previous year’s event and has also been able to improve its exhibitor portfolio. The most growing segments are premium shoes collections which are presented in the White Cubes and Urban Authentic hall. The Urban Authentic hall with its young fashion collections is fully booked. Established brands like Geox, Farrutx, Fratelli Rossetti and Salamander are returning and smaller labels like John Varvatos (USA), John Fluevog (Canada), Heschung (France), Kat Maconie (GB), Fonnesberg (Denmark) and Halmanera (Italy) are using the fair as a new platform.

Designer Miguel Vieira from Portugal will also be celebrating his debut at GDS. Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, Chairman of the Management Board at Messe Düsseldorf says:“In the past few years GDS has developed from a pure orders fair into an increasingly fashion focused event.”With the addition of many new exhibitors the fair has gained ground in fashion terms while still developing other topics.

“We want to offer every exhibitor an ideal setting”, says GDS Director Kirstin Deutelmoser. “Thanks to our themed worlds, we are able to offer a brand like Desigual in the Urban Hall a perfect setting for the launch of their shoe line while adidas SLVR is given an ideal position in White Cubes.”With this concept, the shoe fair will bring exhibitors and visitors together in one line with their target groups. The young area Design Attack will present itself under the new motto ‘Miami Sun Machine’. The area in which 100 young designers will present their collections will be transformed into the pulsating city of Miami drawing on the legendary US cult series Miami Vice for the inspiration.Brit Edition in Hall 4 is another hot spot which will feature selected newcomers from Britain. The collections are including Northern Cobbler, One True Saxon, Ted Baker Footwear, Po-Zu, Laidback London, Esska Design, Kat Maconie, Michael Lewis London and Cheaney Shoes.
