At GDS, International Event for Shoes & Accessories, which will take place in Düsseldorf on March 16-18, about 830 exhibitors will be presenting their collections for the 2011/12 f/w season. In addition, 380 exhibitors will be present at the Global Shoes event held simultaneously to GDS. The shoe fair GDS alone boasts growth of around 9% compared to the event held in the previous year. Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, CEO of trade fair organizer, Messe Düsseldorf, says: “Obviously, GDS is benefiting from the positive developments in retail. We bring on board over 20% more new exhibitors from countries like Spain and Portugal.”

Newcomers in the ‘Urban Authentic’ segment will be the Sixty Group with its Energie, Killah, Miss Sixty and Murphy & Nye collections. Furthermore, Diesel will be featured for the first time on its own booth located in hall 3. The young designers already have their platform for several seasons in the ‘Design Attack’ section. “Here, young English designers are presented, who have a certain status on the market and to that extent can no longer be regarded as up-and-coming designers,” explains Kirsten Deutelmoser, Director GDS & Global Shoes. “Through participating in GDS, they want to strengthen their presence in Germany and Northern Europe.”
