The January 2014 edition of Pitti Uomo is ready to start on 7 - 11 January 2014 despite some international controversy. Raffaello Napoleone, CEO, Pitti Immagine: "This is the first time we have started the show so early, right after Christmas holidays. But we were forced to do so, because of the rigid positions taken up by the organization of the British and French fashion events.” In reference to The London Collections: Men being presented between 6 - 8 January, “The UK show organizers said that according to their own surveys, visiting the Pitti Uomo simply requires two days. We don't think this is true. All four days are busy with buyers making orders and presenting a comprehensive international selection of collections. Moreover, this calendar is not fair in terms of the service that shows are meant to generally offer the market. For instance, such timing is overlapping with Orthodox festivities that will cause problems with Russian customers."

Despite this, the show is showing good health and great energy. 1030 menswear collections will be presented at Pitti Uomo and 70 womenswear collections at Pitti W. 40% of the brands offered are international, coming from over 30 countries. In-line with previous editions, the organization expects 30,000 visitors, 22,000 of which are buyers, and 40% of which are international.

"Rock me Pitti" is the theme of the show, which will present events, set design, and an overall atmosphere that is inspired by rock’n’roll and music.

Regarding exhibitors, many novelties are in store. Many sportswear brands are focusing on an overall upgrade in terms of image and content. Scotch & Soda will launch its tailoring collection, Atelier Scotch. Roy Rogers will show, inside the Fortezza, a collection that is almost totally focused on a tailor made concept. Also new will be WP Lavori in Corso, presenting their new Baracuta Blue special collection, designed by British designer Jeff Griffin. Spiewak, US outdoor brand will be totally redesigned and will present a new debut capsule collection totally made in the US, Golden Fleece Spiewak. G-Star will launch a new retail concept. Champion will present a new capsule collection in collaboration with US designer Todd Snyder, and Peuterey will see the debut of a renovated concept and collection.
