Pitti Uomo will open its doors from 18 to 21 June 2013 presenting anteprimas for S/S 2014. It expects to host about 1020 companies, 38% of which are from foreign countries.

A major inspiration for the show will be the Wroom Pitti Wroom, which focuses on the strong connection between fashion and motorcycling. Part of the initiative will also be an installation showing a selection of vintage leather perfectos selected by HTC.

For this edition Pitti W, the womenswear section of the show, will no longer take place outside of the Fortezza, but inside it within the Arena Strozzi area.

In addition to the two Special Guest Designers, Kolor (Pitti Uomo Special Guest) and Damir Doma (Pitti W Special Guest), as already announced (http://www.sportswearnet.com/businessnews/pages/protected/Kolor-and-Damir-Doma-guest-designers-at-Pitti_6652.html), a series of other collaborations will be presented, for instance between Adidas and Tom Dixon and "LINcredibile Raccolto", an exhibition-installation dedicated to linen that will be showcased inside the Fortezza, as well as in the city, in Piazza Santa Maria Novella square.

Killer Loop will present "Killer Loop Redesigned to Capture the Extreme", a totally revamped and redesigned upmarket version of the well-known outdoor collection. Andrea Pompilio has designed the special edition collection Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio. Quiksilver, iconic surfwear brand launched in 1969, is launching its new global project Quiksilver Original Boardshorts reinterpreting its iconic boardshorts through contemporary art, tailoring and quality fabrics. G-Star will launch its new Exclusive RAW Crossover project, whereby G-Star collaborates with an iconic brand that will be later disclosed. The brand has previously worked with Vitra, Range Rover and Marc Newson."

The US department store Saks Fifth Avenue will present its own menswear label Saksfithavenue, aimed to be sold outside of the US through multi-brand stores. Lanificio Cerruti, in collaboration with Italdesign Giugiaro and The Woolmark, is launching the sportswear-chic limited edition collection Natural Born Elegance designed by Julian Cerruti, son of the designer Nino Cerruti.

Another initiative will see the debut of Pitti Italics aimed at hyping upcoming and young designers - Italian and foreign ones - strongly involved with Italy, Italian fabrics and Made in Italy manufacturing. For this edition the show's organization, in collaboration with Fondazione Pitti Discovery, have selected Massimiliano Giorgetti's MSGM menswear brand, Stella Jean launching her own Homme menswear collection and Aquazzura, luxury footwear brand designed by Colombian designer Edgardo Osorio.

Guest Nation of this Pitti edition will be Turkey. The initiative was organized in partnership with ITKIB (www.itkib.org.tr). General Secretariat of Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations. The selection will present a group of Turkish designers' collections.
