Marc O'Polo wants to become more sustainable. In order to implement its corporate strategy of offering exclusively sustainable products from 2023 onwards, the German fashion retailer has created a new department called "Sustainable Materials Innovation" and appointed Simone Sommer as division head.

The previous head of Marc O'Polo's second line Pure will be responsible for setting up and managing the department, which will focus on sourcing and supporting innovative and sustainable materials before and during collection development. The field of activity will be supplemented by trend scouting in the area of "Material Fashion Concepts" as well as by support in the development of communication tools and processes within Marc O'Polo.

"With this new area we want to further promote our pioneering role in the field of sustainability. In accordance with our credo 'it all starts with the material', we are giving innovations in this field an operational home," says Susanne Schwenger, CPO, Marc O'Polo AG.

As division head of Sustainable Materials Innovation Simone Sommer reports directly to Susanne Schwenger. Sommer's work at Marc O'Polo is preceded by positions at Set Fashion, Balenciaga, Maison Martin Margiela, Bless and Joop!.
