After ten years, Shubhankar Ray, formerly global brand director at G-Star, has left his role within the company.

In a corporate statement, G-Star announced that Ray will remain a friendly consultant to the brand: "After nearly 10 great years with the company, Shubhankar Ray has decided to start a new chapter in his life. While he no longer plays a full-time role at G-Star RAW, Shubhankar will remain a pivotal friend of the brand and shall stay on board of the company as a consultant." No comments were made about a possible successor.

Ray joined G-Star in October 2006 after making himself a name as the creative director of footwear brands Caterpillar (1995-2000) and Camper (2000-2006).

At G-Star, the studied chemist was significantly coining G-Star’s image and visual language across all channels and markets. Over the years, Ray has created global advertising campaigns with the likes of Anton Corbijn, Ellen von Unwerth or Vincent Gallo, organized fashion shows, pop-ups and G-Star’s design partnerships with Marc Newson, Jean Prouvé/Vitra, Leica or Pharrell Williams.
