The first edition of the new Paris-based denim fair Denim by Premiere Vision ( was a remarkable success. Having taken place 4-5 December at The Docks, in the north of the city, the show is now the earliest of its kind in Europe.

"All the big brands like Diesel, Fornarina, Replay and H&M were here," says Gülperi Erkanli, Marketing Manager of Bossa, Turkey. "The denim business needed an early and focussed platform like this." Premiere Vision’s ( new venture welcomed a total of 1265 visitors, 64.5% of which were from outside of France. "For me, it was quite surprising to see so many visitors here," says Bart Van de Woestyne, Marketing Officer of UCO Raymond. "Especially on the first day, which was packed."

The 45 exhibitors from the production and textiles fields made for a valuable assemblage of leading companies, including Bossa, Legler, Cone Denim, Italdenim and Rad Rags. The fair and its participants focused primarily on new developments for Summer 2009, altough some up-coming winter collections were also presented for fast-fashion brands.

Denim by Premiere Vision has defied doubts that emerged when it was initially proposed, and bought to the fore new questions surrounding the uncertain future of the original Premier Vision show, where the denim section has continued to diminish. "I think PV was quite clever to establish this new fair", says Thomas Dislich, CEO from Vicunha Europe. "They will win more with the new event than they'll loose at the PV classic."

The next edition of "Denim by Premiere Vision" will be held in June 2008.
