With 45,135 professional visits and a 10.3% increase compared to the February 2010 edition, Premiere Vision/Expofil, held in Paris at Parc Des Expositions on Feb. 8-10, closed its doors registering a double digit visitor growth. The show's significant result, apart from insiders' appreciation for the event, testifies a sensible general recovery of the market.

The international character of the event remained evident since foreign professional insiders represented 72% of total visits. All major geographic zones reflected increases. The United States alone accounted for about 1,500 visits, a plus of 10% compared to the 2010 sessions. South America showed a +10.3% growth. Brazil, the leading textile country in the Southern American industry where Premiere Vision has recently established a joint venture, showed a rise of 13.7%.

Asian visits have increased significantly with +30.4% with Japanese attendance picking up of +28% with 1,253 visits. Numbers from Chinese visitors grew by 41% despite the overlap with the Chinese New Year celebrations. Visits from South Asia also increased by 12.3%; visits from Pakistan registered a plus of 30%. Moreover, European visitors have also increased (+8.9%) with most notable results from Italy (+18.7%), as third major visiting country (first was France followed by UK). Eastern European countries scored well with Russia (+32.3%), the Ukraine (+37.8%) and Belarus (+20%).

Visitors’ comments were very positive as Adi Wollaston, Creative Director, AAK (UK), said: "This is the best show I have seen in two or three years. I think everyone is working a lot harder since the recession hit and it seems to have brought the buzz back." Diego Steinberg from Argentina, a wholesaler in Buenos Aires for the top-range market, commented: "Premiere Vision Paris remains an essential show for us. The offer and the organization are unique."

The whole Premiere Vision Pluriel group of events (Premiere Vision/Expofil, Indigo, Le Cuir A Paris, ModAmont, Zoom) held simultaneously at the same location registered a 6.5% increase compared to last year's edition, with 55,792 visits by fashion professionals from over 100 countries.

The next edition of Premiere Vision Pluriel will run Sep. 20-22, 2011.
