The Swedish premium brand POC, maker of helmets, goggles and protection gear, has won the German Design Award for its “Receptor Plus” helmet.

The German Design Award is the highest official award from Germany for the design industry and has been given out annually since 2006.

The helmet is suitable for skiers, snowboarders, bikers and skateboarders, as well as for water sports such as surfing, kayaking, and white water rafting. It meets the standards for all such sports. This is possible as the result of POC’s patented unbreakable construction of the aramid helmet. The interior of the helmet is changeable, so it can be adapted to different needs. For water sports the interior is made from neoprene, while the interior for snow sports is thicker and warmer than for skateboarding. POC also won for its clean, sophisticated design.

POC has won more than 20 international design awards over the last several years, including the Ispo BrandNew Award, the Eurobike Award, Materialica Design+Technology Award, Swedish Outdoor Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, Design Observeur and Volvo Sport Design Award.

POC was founded in 2005 near Stockholm and is famous for its close collaboration with scientists from several fields.
