US outerwear brand Penfield launched an online viral competition and social networking campaign called 'Race for the Summit' to celebrate one of their original and classic styles, the Summit down-insulated jacket. The web project just started and invites all web users to embark on an online quest in search for the answers to ten clues that are to be released over four weeks. While searching the quest answers, the clues will lead participants on an online trail around a selection of influential blogs and websites on the fields of fashion, outdoor pursuits, music and lifestyle, among others. The customer will receive the clues via mail-outs, the website, Facebook and Twitter.

The first price will be awarded with a premium down-insulated Penfield parka. In addition, three classic Summit down-insulated parkas, five Outback down-insulated vests and 20 Sanford from Penfield’s fall/winter 2011 collection will be available for the runner-ups.

With this campaign, Penfield wants to build a community of interest around the label. The submission deadline will be Monday, Dec. 19, 2012, and the winner will be announced one day later, Dec. 20.

Penfield stands for iconic outerwear and was established in Massachusetts in 1975.
