Californian sports brand and eyewear specialist Oakley have announced they will launch a new lifestyle apparel collection called Icon.
The menswear line for Spring/Summer will debut in March 2014 and is said to be “rooted in the competitive nature of sport, but made for life beyond it.” The new line combines an urban look with technical features to support mobility, protection and utility. It addresses EMEA territories (Europe, the Middle East and Africa). Oakley worked with a European fit, minimal style, discrete branding and employed movement-freeing ergonomic construction, lightweight materials and features ranging from moisture management and water resistance to thermo-regulation, stain and wrinkle resistance, adjustability and even pack-ability, depending on the garment.
“Life demands form and function,” said Olaf Dunz, brand director EMEA, Oakley. “That is the message and inspiration behind the new collection, a close collaboration between Oakley apparel design teams in the U.S. and Europe. Specifically addressing style cues that set the trend in the European market, they have utilized the best of apparel innovation in achieving a focused approach to the urban landscape.”
Next to Cargo pants and shorts, sweaters, polo shirts, t-shirts and jackets, the collection also includes some accessories such as a five-panel cap, wallet, iPad sleeve and a backpack. The line will be available at regular Oakley apparel retailers. Retail prices will range from €250 for a jacket to €99 for trousers and €49 for shirts.
