North Sails, the historic sailwear brand, has just launched a short 12-minute movie by director Leonardo Guerra Seràgnoli, starring New York actor Neal Huff.

The short movie commemorates the brand's history and origins through the idea of the “tigers" men who live by following their love to the sea in the same way that Lowell North, founder of the brand and sailing champion, has been doing.

The plot of the movie is based upon this contrasting passion for the sea and plays with flashbacks of the personal history of its protagonist. The integral version of the movie can be seen through the brand's website and its own social networks  - Facebook, Vimeo and Youtube.

North Sails closed 2011 with a €71 million turnover and by end 2012 they expect stable results, 20% of which is from European countries, namely Germany, France and Spain. Future aims of the company include expanding further towards Russia and the Far East. At present the company is selling through over 1,000 doors in Italy and through 46 mono-brand stores (18 own monobrand stores, 28 stores in franchising). The last two franchises will be opened by the end of 2012 in Marsala and La Spezia. The aim is to increase their international network of stores by reaching a total of about 500 stores in the near future.
