Immediately effective, the American department store chain Macy’s has appointed a new president of the corporation: Jeffrey Gennette. He will report to Terry J.Lundgren, Macy’s, Inc. chairman and chief executive officer, who also held the position of Macy's president before Gennette's appointment.

Being based in New York City, Gennette will meet his daily responsibilities for Macy’s merchandising functions and also supervise marketing activities and the e-commerce platform In addition, he will be looking after the company’s private brands organization.

Jeffrey Gennette has been working at Macy’s since 1983, when he joined the company as an executive trainee. He has held several store and merchandise management positions within the enterprise for the last two decades. Prior to his new role as president, Gennette has been Macy’s chief merchandising officer since 2009.
