Sustainability and its ecological and ethical considerations are all in vogue, and to improve its stance on social responsibility Nudie Jeans has joined the Fair Wear Foundation. The denim company has announced that beginning this year it is monitoring its suppliers. “Social responsibility has always been important for us,” said Palle Stenberg, CEO of Nudie Jeans. “Joining Fair Wear Foundation gives the tools and the knowledge to take the next step and it also gives credibility to our efforts.”

Fair Wear Foundation, the independent, non-profit organization that works to improve working conditions in the textile industry, was founded as an initiative by several trade organizations in the textile sector, trade unions and NGOs. Members endeavor to comply with and implement the Foundation’s Code of Labor Practices. The eight principal regulations of the Code are based on the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights convention. Fair Wear Foundation subsequently verifies that member companies implement the Code of Labor Practices across their supply chains.
