Milan Fashion Week gets ready for its next edition taking place in Milan from 19 to 24 February 2014. The event will present a total of 64 fashion shows, 72 presentations and 8 presentations upon appointment involving a total of 143 collections.

For the first time, thanks to a collaboration between Milan City Administration, Italian Fashion Chamber, Cosmit (the organization behind Milan Design Week) and Altagamma, the new “Milano Creativa” portal and the related apps for smartphone and tablet will be available and presenting a complete calendar of the different initiatives that will take place in the city for the upcoming weeks. The portal will include information on events, interactive maps, addresses, contacts and details of the involved companies and organizations. The calendar will be presented experimentally for the first time in Italian and English and aims to be completely tested and ready for use for 2015, when Milan will host the Expo taking place between 1 May and 31 October 2015. The first two main events broadcasted by the portal will be Milan Fashion Week (19-24 February 2014) and Milan Design Week (8-13 April 2014).

The City of Milan wants to involve consumers and citizens with the running of Fashion Week. For this reason it will host a series of totems broadcasting fashion shows live in key areas of the city (Via Mercanti, Piazza Cordusio, Via Croce Rossa, Piazza San Babila-corner of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Corso Como) as well as inside La Rianscente in Piazza Duomo at the 4th and 7th floors.

As part of the aim to involve young people working in fashion, more initiatives will take place. On 21 February 2014, the Fashion Hub of Palazzo Giureconsulti, nevralgic center directing activities during the shows, will host the workshop “Talent Day 2014. New Fashion jobs: Discovering new jobs of the digital world”.

Other events involving young designers will be four fashion shows presenting the four finalists of the contest Next Generation presenting catwalk shows of Davide Grillo, Daniele Vigiani, Martina Cella and Marco Rambaldi, taking place on 24 February 2014. Additional presentations will be shown supporting five new designers – Ryuya Ohishi, Lucia Russo, Debora Zavaglia, Miguel Garcia Abad, Layhul Jang.
