The upcoming edition of Shanghai-based trade show Novomania, scheduled for March 5-7, 2014, has been cancelled. No further plans on the future of the young fashion fair have been revealed, but trade show organizer UBM will be devising ideas.

A UBM spokesperson commented: “A major shift in the fashion retail sector in China and changing market circumstances has meant that Novomania as it was conceived could no longer address the needs of the intended participants. As an organizer that endeavours to create only the most effective business platforms, we feel the need to further observe the evolution of this sector before we can devise an event to meet the expectations of the stakeholders and the community it serves, and it became a professional imperative upon us to not stage Novomania at this moment.”

At its latest edition in summer 2013, Novomania’s managing director Guilherme Faria announced the trade show’s intention to operate seasonally (March + September), rather than annually. Later on in the year, the trade show also revealed a new concept with a new theme and additional show areas and also signed a partnership agreement with White Milano (see related news below).

The trade shows Première Vision Shanghai and Denim By PV Asia which signed a partnership with Novomania in November and were scheduled to take place simultaneously and in co-location with Novomania will stick to their respective concept. A Première Vision spokesperson commented: "Regarding PV and Denim By in Asia, nothing changes. The shows will be held next March 4 & 5."
