New figures from the 26th edition of Munich Fabric Start–precollections and Bluezone, held from Feb. 3-5, in Munich’s M.O.C. and Zenithhalle show slight growth for the show, despite overlaps with other German fairs (see our previous report of Feb. 6, 2009) and Milano Unica, a strike of local public transport workers, and the overall critical economic climate. The German textile trade show registered 14,350 visitors, slightly more than in Feb. 2008 (14,200 visitors).
According to fair management, the show is raising its international profile. It hosted 30% more international visitors, among which were representatives from German ready-to-wear manufacturers to Italian design houses such as Armani and Max Mara. Official figures for single events such as Bluezone were not announced yet, so no comparisons could be drawn at this time for attendance in the denim area or in the main halls.
