Footwear brand MBT founded an own subsidiary in Austria. The contract with former distributer Austro Masai Vertriebs GmbH will expire at the end of the month. For the new distribution structure, MBT has announced a new team. Since December, Hubertus Effinger is Country Manager Austria. The 46-year old has a vast experience in the sports branch. He was working as Sales Manager for Geox, as well as for New Balance and Life Fitness. Markus Walt continues to be Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Guido Heck, Head of Sales International, explains: “Austria is an exciting market. With the own subsidiary, we are closer to the market, are better able to control and can react more effective and quick on trends.”

MBT (Masai Barefoot Technology) was born in 1996 when the founders discovered that natural instability has some amazing health benefits. MBT made this discovery by observing the wonderfully agile Masai people walking barefoot on natural, uneven ground. MBTs are now sold in more than 55 countries around the world. For 2011, MBT Austria is planning several marketing activities.
