LA Market Week, which dominated the Downtown Los Angeles Fashion District last week, was a plethora of brands large and small. Some small labels were showing for the first time, others made this a clean up stop following their larger Vegas appearances.

LAZR is a show that has dedicated itself to supporting the growth of the LA Fashion District. Offering what it calls a 360-degree connection with the brand, retailer and consumer, LAZR showcases both on and off market finds and is also open to the public. There, buyers and consumers alike found Betsey Johnson’s spring and holiday shoe collection, complete with glittery eveningwear and bridal. Roma brought its one-for-one boots, in a program it calls “Giving Poverty the Boot.” Roma rain boots are popular at larger retailers such as Neiman Marcus and smaller stores across the country.

Sillin sportswear, with its owl logo, used LAZR as a springboard that will send the brand off to MAGIC in February. Its booth sat cozily up against Linden and its eco-friendly, organic cotton creations. Seevees also made the scene along with big names such as Timberland and American Trench tartan scarves and warm beanies.

Over at the mainstay D&A show, Will Leather Goods showed its enviable collection of bags, carryalls and belts. Maryland’s own Doffer Boys, in its second season, brought intricate knitwear and, for the first time ever, its cashmere collection. Robin’s Jean represented for the upcoming season along with AKiS, Bed Stu and precious jewelry from the likes of Katie Diamond Jewelry.

Meanwhile, both the Cooper Building and New Mart held their own shows, bustling with men’s, women’s and kids’ clothing. The California Market Center offered its normal showrooms plus the Transit LA Shoe Show, a gift and home showcase and more menswear than anywhere else.

It was a busy week for LA that appears to be growing–quite contentedly–each season.
