Today at the Milanese bar Corso Como 10, the Parma-based Jam Session Group announces its newest acquisition: the Amsterdam-based new luxury denim brand Blue Blood (

The two companies want to set up entrepreneurial synergies: creation of the line and the management will continue to be directed by Blue Blood’s Jason Denham, creative director, and Steve te Pas, brand director, at the brand’s head offices in Amsterdam. The Jam Session Group with president Matteo Cambi and managing director Patrick Nebiolo will develop Blue Blood’s marketing and retail strategies. “The aim of this new company is to raise the brand’s image and value, making it still more unique and exclusive,” explained Denham. “And it will bring Blue Blood out of the underground and make it more visible.”

Currently, Blue Blood (pictured above) is available in 350 exclusive shops in 19 different countries. But now the brand wants to strengthen its position in the Southern European market, especially in Spain and in Italy. As a first step, it will open a flagship store in Amsterdam in early 2006.

The brand also wants to double its annual turnover (which currently is about 5 million to 7 million euro) by next year. “Jam Session Group has invested in Blue Blood to make this brand one of the main players in the following seasons,” said Nebiolo.

To further that growth, Blue Blood, which has been a jeanswear-only line until now, will soon begin to offer full apparel collections.

A reciprocal effect of the new partnership is that “it will allow both companies to work together, to learn one from each other and grow in terms of quality, turnover and geographical coverage,” said Cambi.

Other brands under Jam Session’s umbrella include the Italian brand Guru, which offers womenswear, menswear and kidswear, and the license for production and distribution for the brand Billionaire. The new partnership may also be helpful for Guru, which hopes to increase its presence in Holland and England.

Blue Blood’s next trade show appearances will be at BBBarcelona (Jan 18-20, 2006) and at the BBBerlin (Jan 27-29, 2006).
