Positive Feedback: Health & Fitness Hall

One day after the finish of Ispo Munich from January 26 to 29, the organizers announced a successful show. More than 80,000 visitors from 110 countries came to the sports apparel and equipment trade show. 66 percent of the visitors hailed from abroad, most of them from Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France and Great Britain. This year, the trade show also experienced a strong increase of visitors from other nations, such as the USA and Russia.

With 2,565 exhibitors from 51 countries Ispo Munich celebrated a new exhibitor record (prior year: 2,481/ 52). The net exhibit space was increased by yet another 1,500 square meters to 104,720 square meters in total. In addition to a number of new special exhibit areas, such as for Padel Tennis, the new Health & Fitness Hall received very positive feedback.

Klaus Dittrich, Chairman of the Management of Messe München (, is pleased: “The atmosphere at Ispo Munich 2014 was very good. All relevant statistics are extremely positive, and once again confirm our role as the international leading platform for the entire sports business.”

Visitors also had a positive opinion about the trade show overall: close to 75 percent rated Ispo Munich 2014 excellent to very good, an additional 24 percent gave the event a rating of good.

Among the news at the fair was newcomer Desigual with its second fitness collection. The Spanish company presented the fall collection for running and fitness at ispo, the spring summer line will be going to retail the next months. Of interest was also Patagonia, which released the news of a change in the management, naming Rose Marcario the new CEO and President. The brand also moved from the Outdoor halls to an Action Sports hall, reflecting the roots not only in mountaineering, but also in skiing and other outdoor sports. Stefan Wahlén, Managing Director, Patagonia Europe: “Our move from hall B5 to A3 and the new booth set-up was the correct choice. We are now in a place where we see ourselves as a brand.“ Primaloft, a specialist for insulation, presented the first blending of down with synthetic insulation. Launch partners were e.g. Stone Island, Musto, Black Diamond and Vaude. Voluminous down jackets were still very strong at the show, but there was a search visible for new solutions to make the ubiquitous classical down jacket and parka more attractive. Invisible downlining and precise fittings were a solution, e.g. at Fjällräven. Colors are moving back from bright to darker and more natural shades, added with pastels like mint.

For the next season, Ispo announced also organizational changes: Due to extremely busy calendar of events at Messe München’s exhibition center makes it necessary to change the weekday schedule for Ispo Munich 2015. Therefore, the weekday schedule will be changed one time only to Thursday, February 5 to Sunday, February 8, 2015.
