As announced earlier this week, designer Eyan Allen has left Hugo Boss AG. As Brand/Creative Director Womenswear, Allen headed the design of womenswear for the brand divisions Boss, Boss Orange and Hugo. The company stated that there are no plans to fill his position in the near future and that all members of the respective design teams will remain in their positions.

Shortly before Allen’s leaving, Hugo Boss announced that the company has hired New York-based fashion designer Jason Wu as new Artistic Director for Boss womenswear, effective June 15th. It is assumed that Eyan Allen left, as he saw no future for himself within the Hugo Boss AG team.

30 year old Wu, who founded his own label Jason Wu in 2007, will be responsible for all product and image-related aspects concerning the Boss womenswear and accessories collections, starting with the presentation of the pre-fall 2014 collection.

He will be based in the company’s headquarters in Metzingen, Germany and will also build up a new design studio in New York.

Jason Wu comments: “I have been enthusiastic about the comprehensive expertise and the longstanding tailoring tradition of Hugo Boss for a long time. With the sophisticated equipment of the Hugo Boss design studios I want to create a significant womenswear collection that will be in no way inferior to the fashion expertise and authenticity of the men’s collection.”

With upcoming fashion shows in New York and Shanghai and through the latest spectacular hiring, Hugo Boss AG has recently put a strong focus on its Boss brand.
