Igedo Company, in partnership with the Fashion & Design Academy AMD, has held for a second time the competition for young designers called Design am Rhein. Ten finalists were chosen from 92 applications in the preliminary stage. Those ten presented themselves to a six-person jury in conjunction with CPD, the fashion fair. The first prize went to the designer Dora Abodi from Hungary. Her avant-garde F/W 10 collection carries the unusual title of “David Bowie in Atlantis” and is inspired by a combination of shapes and colors of the ocean along with Bowie’s characteristic 80s glam rock. Second place was awarded to Lena Hasibether from Germany and third place to the native Belarusian Anna Jazewitsch. The jury awarded fourth place to Krizia Robustella from Spain, while fifth place went to “Großer Heinrich”, the label from the two designers Astrid Großer and Gerti Heinrich of Germany. The winners go on to receive free trade show stands at CPD in July 2010 and February 2011. In addition, their collections will open the High End Show at both fairs. The first place winner will also receive a free stand at CPM in Moscow in September 2010 and February/March 2011.
