Fashionistas, mark your calendars! Come early August, Copenhagen Fashion Week will be in full swing, with several trade shows and over 30 catwalk must-see shows.

One highlight is the relatively young trade show, Gallery International Fashion Fair, which focuses on international new luxury and premium denim brands. Held at the city center’s Forum Copenhagen from August 7-10, the contemporary fashion fair will include more than 40 new design-driven brands among exhibitors and stage eight catwalk shows with some great Scandinavian brands.

The fashion fair will also grow from 4,000 to 5,200 sq. meters. Among the new and trendy exhibitors are Day Birger et Mikkelsen, Kenzo, Paul & Joe, Helmut Lang, Vanessa Bruno and Cheap Monday. Returning exhibitors include Acne, Filippa K, Lagerfeld, Malene Birger, NOIR, Tiger of Sweden, Peter Jensen, Jens Laugesen, Wood Wood and Stella McCartney. The last edition in February attracted around 12,000 visitors.

This August Gallery will introduce a large show tent in front of its entrance for catwalk shows, which include presentations by the Swedish and Finnish brands Ann-Sofie Back, Marimekko, Vadum, Cheap Monday and Bitte Kai Rand. There will also be a smaller tent with activities in the form of book receptions, presentations of new collections, film shows and, last but not least, an award show.

In another news Gallery has announced it is one of the first CO2-neutral fashion fairs in the world. “Based on the anticipated use of electricity, water, heat, taxi, air travel etc., we have calculated the amount of CO2 that we emit in connection to the holding of Gallery in Forum Copenhagen,” says Gallery’s Christian Maibom. He adds that the show has even abided by the UN’s CO2 guidelines and been recognized by the Ministry of Climate and Energy as a champion of energy reduction.

More environmentally-conscious plans lay ahead. In the future, the plan of action is not only compensation via quotas but also an active reduction of CO2 emission with lighting, carpets, etc.

The organizers behind Gallery are Gregersen Communication and CIFF-Copenhagen International Fashion Fair. Once again free shuttle buses will operate at Bella Center where CIFF will be held and at Gallery’s Forum location. A joint-entrance fee will be applied to both fairs.
