Düsseldorf shoe fair GDS ended on Friday, September 13. Almost 21,000 visitors attended the show. 815 exhibitors from 36 countries presented the trends and looks for Spring/Summer 2014, and 341 exhibitors from 15 countries showed at Global Shoes.

Thursday was a generally busy day, but the last day was very quiet and by lunch time the halls were almost empty. “We are happy with the frequency and we had many direct orders” said Bernd Wild, Tamaris. The young sneaker label Mundart had its debut in the urban hall 3. Reinhald Pehla: “The show was a great success for us.” Business as usual was the comment in general. Visitors and exhibitors were in good moods and the new collections were well received. There was a big demand for fashion, especially focus trends like light boots, pointed flats, sport hybrids and summer loafers. The key colours are beige, brown tones, black, silver, gold, neutrals, indigo, white and bright colours with a washed out effect.
One highlight was the impressive opening show featuring Lisa Tomaschewsky as a celebrity guest.
Another hot spot was the Design Attack party under the motto “Bahama Mama” at the end of the second fair day with food, drinks and live music.
The new GDS concept was discussed at every booth. Beginning summer 2014, GDS will be repositioned as a kick-off trade show running from 30 July – 1 August. The next winter edition will be held from 12 - 14 March 2014.
