Gant, the American lifestyle brand, announced today that all-American menswear designer Michael Bastian will design a Fall 2010 men’s capsule collection for the brand. “As Gant has grown into an international brand with a global focus, Michael Bastian will complete our journey back to the American sensibility of today’s Gant,” stated Ari Hoffman, Gant’s US President and CEO.

The 50-piece collection will draw inspiration from Gant’s extensive 60-year old history, including tailored clothing, outerwear, woven knits, jersey, pants, denim and accessories. Prices will be approximately 20% more than Gant’s existing labels. “I see my version of the Gant guy as the younger brother to the Michael Bastian guy. He’s tailored, a bit sporty, and a little more athletic, with a modern edge that feels both approachable and sophisticated,” explained Bastian.

After working as the men’s fashion director at a range of brands, most recently Bergdorf Goodman, Bastian was inspired to start his own line four years ago. After eight seasons, the Michael Bastian brand can be found in more 50 retail locations internationally. In addition, Gant has become an authentic modern American lifestyle brand with its East Coast Heritage dating back to 1949 and originating in New Haven, Connecticut.
