Now at the planning stages, “La Mode, c’est vous” (You are fashion) has been chosen as the slogan for a series of fashion events to be put on by French department store Galeries Lafayette. Taking their inspiration from the very latest in street and urbanwear fashion trends, the events (from September 8 to October 2, 2010) will be held at nearly all the Lafayette retail stores, with the main billing going to the world’s biggest fashion show on September 25 at 54 stores and then on September 30 in Berlin and Paris. The flagship store in Paris is planning a catwalk on Boulevard Haussmann covering a distance of over two kilometers, with 10,000 people expected to be on hand. Galeries Lafayette has released a sign-up form for the event on its website making it possible for anyone to apply to be a model for a day and put their favorite fashion look on display.

In addition to the fashion show being held the same week as the Paris Fashion Week, the department store will also be collaborating with 20 well-known French bloggers who have been given carte blanche for decorating the store’s display windows. In cooperation with French magazine, WAD, a photographer is currently roaming the streets of France on the lookout for photo ops of cool people who will be selected for marketing proposals (such as a catalogue shoot). Photo studios will be set up at the stores where costumers can show off their looks and in the flagship in Paris a meeting with fashion experts will be held on each Thursday during the event. Partners for the event are YSL Beauty for make-up and L’Oréal for hair.
